SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER

Dear FTSF Community,
On behalf of the Board of Directors for FTSF, we invite you to take part in our annual membership meeting.  Our agenda will include a business/corporation meeting with election of the 2020 Board as well as a fun and interesting membership meeting.
Our agenda includes:
·    Talk by Christina Volpe, professional historian on our plans for the making of the
     Bob Orintas Oral/Video History 
·    Review of our member survey findings
·   Review of our 2019 year; successes and challenges along with a review of our 2020
    priority projects
·   Treasurer’s Report – how did we do financially this year?
·   Displays, activities, and refreshments including a photo album of this year’s events      and Bob Orintas’ slides of Topsmead past   
    
We hope you will join us on October 19th at 10 AM at the Litchfield Community Center [421 Bantam Road, Litchfield, CT]. The meeting and our time for chatting with one another will run until noon. We would love to see you and connect face-to-face with all of our members.

We also hereby officially announce the upcoming elections for the next Board of Directors of The Friends of Topsmead State Forest. The election will take place at our annual meeting.

As per our bylaws, the Board’s terms lasts one year while officer’s terms are two years. The Board terms run from January to December. As this has been our inaugural year, the current board started its duties on August 3, 2018 but were officially elected at last year’s annual meeting. Therefore, this board will remain active until the end of December, 2019. The new board will assume their duties on January 1, 2020.

Also, as per our bylaws, only members of the FTSF as of the annual meeting (dues paid by October 17th) are eligible to vote and to be elected to the Board of Directors.

The following is the proposed slate for our 2020 FTSF Board. At the annual meeting we will also call for any nominations from the floor before the vote.  There are 5 open positions on the Board. The proposed list is as follows:
