FRIENDS OF TOPSMEAD presents first
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

Picture
The inaugural winner of Friends of Topsmead Scholarship was Nicholas Boggio of Plymouth, Connecticut shown here accepting his award letter from FTSF President, Colleen Stradtman. Nicholas completed his senior year at WAMOGO High School and is attending SUNY Forestry and Science in Syracuse, New York. Nicholas exemplifies the kind of student whom we hope will benefit from this scholarship. He will be pursuing a career in environmental science and natural resource conservation. We are excited to make a contribution to future stewards of our natural world, such as Nicholas, who will help sustain special places like Topsmead in the future.

Friends of Topsmead Annual Scholarship Program
The Board of Directors of Friends of Topsmead State Forest has established an annual scholarship program for high school seniors. We offer one $1,000.00 scholarship to a student pursuing a career in environmental/ecological studies, resource management, conservation, or historic preservation. The scholarship check will be given to the financial aid office of the school the student will be attending to offset his/her/their educational costs.

Program Objectives
Our objective is to support students seeking future careers in environmental management, including the preservation or conservation of our collective historic heritage. We intend to invest in the future of parks like Topsmead by investing in people with a passion for stewardship of our environment and sustainability of our natural and historic resources.
